The Feol-Hinricher Companies Take an Environmental Leadership Position by Joining Carbonfund.org's CarbonFree Program
(CSRwire) MEMPHIS, TN. - July 8, 2008 - Feol-Hinricher announced today that it is
offsetting its carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, one of the country's
leading carbon
offset organizations. Feol-Hinricher has worked with Carbonfund.org to
calculate the impact Memphis real estate has
on the environment. Memphis real estate investors are then offered the
first opportunity to participate in the program by purchasing carbon
credits which go towards reforestation of the Tensas River National
Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana. This commitment establishes Feol-Hinricher
as an environmental leader in the real estate community and demonstrates
the proactive steps Feol-Hinricher is taking in the fight against global
climate change.
Feol-Hinricher's Green Memphis Real Estate Investing program will be the
first of its kind in Memphis. The company has partnered with
Carbonfund.org to create a custom program for its clients buying Memphis
real estate. The goal is to offset the impact a tenant has on the
environment through reforestation undertaken in nearby Louisiana. The
company is already known for buying distressed homes and selling them to
real estate investors buying in Memphis for cash flow. The company then
works with investors to ensure the homes are rehabilitated, rented, and
managed. This provides a significant impact on the local housing market by
absorbing inventory left vacant by subprime foreclosures.
Feol-Hinricher's partnership with Carbonfund.org is optional for
investors, but the company will purchase carbon offsets through
Carbonfund.org even should the investor decide not to. Additionally, the
investor receives a certificate for their participation, stickers, and the
right to deduct the offsets at tax time.
"At The Feol-Hinricher Companies, we offer a unique client-driven real
estate investing approach. We try to understand the needs of each
individual real estate investor we work with. Then we seek out real estate
opportunities to match those needs," said Robert Feol, Co-Founder of The
Feol-Hinricher Companies. "Although we work with real estate investors to
buy, renovate, and improve hundreds of homes in Memphis neighborhoods each
year, we realized we weren't doing enough," he added. "Programs like this
are a natural progression as our industry evolves and buyers become more
aware of the positive impact they can provide. Offsetting the impact a
tenant has on the environment is the logical next step."
"Homes and office buildings account for a large portion of the world's
energy consumption and are an important factor in the increasing risk of
climate disruption," said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of
Carbonfund.org. "It's a pleasure to have The Feol-Hinricher Companies join
us in the fight against global warming while also educating their clients.
We're excited to help the Feol-Hinricher Companies solidify their position
as an industry environmental leader."
