EA Logistics Showcases Eco-Friendly Shipping Program by Greening One of America's Largest Trade Shows
(CSRwire) CHICAGO, IL - February 20, 2008 - To showcase its new Delivered
GrEAn(TM) eco-friendly shipping program, EA Logistics has announced
that it will help "green" one of the nation's largest glamour industry
trade shows by offsetting all shipping-related carbon emissions through a
partnership with Carbonfund.org, a non-profit organization leading the
fight against climate change. The America's Beauty Show takes place at
Chicago's McCormick Place March 1- 3, 2008 and is one of Tradeshow
Week’s Top 200 shows, attended by nearly 50,000 beauty professionals.
"By providing free carbon offsets to our customers shipping in and out
of the show, we are helping green one of the dirtiest but necessary facets
of the trade show industry – CO2 emissions from freight," said Mike
Ellis, president of EA Logistics. "We launched Delivered GrEan(TM)
to provide an easy way for our customers to bring their shipping into
alignment with other sustainability efforts planned for 2008 – and do it
with no additional cost to them."
Transportation is one of the leading sources of greenhouse gas emissions.
For instance, a typical truckload shipped from New York City to Los Angeles
generates an estimated 6.28 metric tons of CO2, contributing to global
warming. Through Delivered GrEAn(TM) , EA Logistics computes
emissions for each shipment(s) based on distance, weight and mode of
transportation and offsets 100% of these emissions with Carbonfund.org,
one of the nation's leading carbon reduction and offset organizations.
After a shipment has been Delivered GrEAn(TM), the shipper gets a
receipt documenting the amount of CO2 that is being offset, which can be
addressed to the client or the client's customer. The program can be
further tailored to meet the specific requirements of different industry
sectors, including supply chain, retail, marketing and manufacturing. For
example:
A marketer rolling out a series of point-of-purchase displays can
support their company's internal CO2 reduction goals by having them
Delivered GrEAn(TM).
A printer using recycled paper and soy ink can take their green
commitment a step further by having shipments Delivered GrEAn(TM).
A show service organizer, show management company or individual
exhibitor can reduce their event footprint by having booths, accessories
and materials Delivered GrEAn(TM).
A consumer products company working for a retailer that has
established vendor sustainability criteria can now meet their client's
expectations for green transportation.
According to Ellis, businesses that take advantage of Delivered
GrEAn(TM) can experience a number of other potential business
benefits. "In an increasingly environmentally conscious business
environment, this service helps differentiate EA's clients from their
competitors and can help them build business by meeting their clients' CO2
reduction/mitigation targets. Because the service is transaction-based, it
reminds recipients of the shipper’s environmental commitment with each
delivery," he said.
In addition to providing carbon offsets, EA Logistics also works to
reduce pollution by using bio-diesel fuels in its trucks and adopting
other eco-friendly practices in its business. Thus working with EA
Logistics also satisfies clients’ need to green their supply chain.
"It's great to see the Delivered GrEAn program hit the ground running by
offsetting The America’s Beauty Show," said Eric Carlson, Executive
Director of Carbonfund.org. "We applaud EA Logistics for its strong
commitment to hastening the transition to a clean-energy future."
